For some it was just yesterday,
for some it's been faded years.
But their sacrifice is not forgotten
as Veteran's Day appears.
Thank you for giving your time
a little piece of your life,
to keep us safe and happy
and keep our lives free from strife.
I know I'll never know
the extent of what you endured.
The many sleepless nights,
the heart that's never cured.
Just know that I appreciate
the things that you have done.
Freedom does not come free;
the price has to be won.
